Asahi Beer : Behind the scenes

A Behind the scenes look at our last TV commercial for Asahi Beer. It can take a full days worth of shooting to get 10~15 seconds of usable footage in the edit and you can’t just shoot in the middle of the street so sometimes you have to make your own streets. As simple as this project looked from the outside there was actually a lot of moving parts with over 100 staff on set and 3 full location build outs in studio that helps pull this whole commercial together.

It was great working with DOP Ben Ruffell from New Zealand for this shoot.
Big setups, big fun.
We couldn’t find the right type of bar style roof top so we had to make our own.
There the street scene I was talking about that we had to make, for advertising and branding you can’t just roll up into a public street and start shooting so you have to make your own.
We filmed some run and gun tracking shot of the street backdrop which we overlaid into our onset green screens, mixing props and built out sets with real backdrops.
Was a great project with an awesome team.
